November is always a month that is filled with surprises and this year's aren't that much difference.

I know I had been really bad with updating my blog , that is because after Milan and Venice, I had a mild case of bronchitis (cough ,cough non stop).I am better now and ready to kick off again with busy schedules.

Talk about schedule of mine... the truth is I am always very busy lately, as a Corporate Chef who is in charge of actIvities in Asia, my time is limited for my hobbies and loved ones and that is why I have to say Sayonara,selamat tinggal, au revoir to my column 'Salam Chef Azura' at SAJI food magazine .A Malay language magazine by Utusan..

They always say, the 2 hardest things to say in life are

'Hello' at the beginning and 'Goodbye' at the end. That is how I feel but , With average of 4 countries to visit every month promoting Orveds sous vide cooking system( a brilliant yet accurate method of cooking), I constantly deals with Big players in my industry,businessmen and food techs and that requires a lot of time and knowledge.When I come back home I got paperworks AND a column, a book to take care of and restaurant consulting as well.To be honest, how busy I am...Let me tell you, I already know my schedule up to June 2010! SO I hope those who had sent me e mails won't be asking why I stopped writing .Thank You so much for your support of Salam Chef Azura and as a new writer nothing means more than your mails and comments.

Bigger picture coming 2010

When I was about to put my pen down, I remember about the call I received from The Editor of a reknown International Food magazine who had approached me to write after, few mails and phone calls after our first talk, I have decided to only write again next year once my schedule

has calm down.I know I should not give up and put my love towards writing away.

My mum is smiling at the moment...I know mum, I just can't forget my first love and no matter where I go and what I do, I will always write, just like cooking...it is an insatiable lust of mine.

I'm dreaming of Afghanistan

Yesterday ,Absolute Gourmet had guests for the movie screening called Afghan Chronicles by Dominic Morisette , I think its a great one as I've always been interested/intrigued by anything Afghanistan, and rebuilding it.
The canapes menu was handpicked by pleasant host- The Canadian High Commission.

Smoked salmon on lime and dill mayo
Roasted tomatoes and goat's cheese
Curry coriander
Chocolate cakes

Throughout my entire cooking career, I had cooked for several international singers and movie stars , but yesterday was something else.I got back into cooking few months ago , and it was nice when people said to you that you still got it especially from your client.

Anyway

I am glad that everything went well.He autographed the poster and I will definitely hang it on my wall .

Group lunch at my place ,it was awesome.They are nice people.And thats what my Nasi Lemak (rice cooked in coconut milk and herbs) looks like.

Menu for that lunch was... (2 courses)

Poulet saute a la creme

Roger's chocolate brownie

with beverages of hot and cold.

This group ordered almost everything on my menu as they wanted to try my food in addition to what i had proposed and agreed , I was glad they cleaned all the plates .Big smile on my face that day!

First gig at Alliance Francaise

It was an art exhibition by a renowned Malaysian Artist Zainal Abidin Musa, He has his own blog.I really enjoyed this one although my oven burst while doing THIS due to the kitchen's power failure to supply an adequate amount that my beloved oven requires( I will show and tell the story of my oven on Sayangku Azura soon when I got some time.By the way, it went well and Mr Zainal was happy with the job Absolute Gourmet had done.

I seldom take pictures of functions I've done for one reason I was always busy in the kitchen on this one, I just squeeze some time in between running to the kitchen and the hall and giving my namecards to guests while trying to snap some picture to put on this blog that had been put on hold many times.
Tables in the making...Menu that evening were canapes, I made Mushrooms and herb boursin ,Pepper and pesto in addition to asian ones and my homemade sweets or you may call it "French pastries" if you like :)

It all happened in a sudden , and I had made myself The Director of Absolute Gourmet.Menus agreed and lease signed , here we are Inside The Alliance Francaise on Lorong Gurney Kuala Lumpur.It is near to Celcom HQ,Police Training Centre,Multimedia College and The Ministry of Defense.Before we started pour operationI already had orders coming and that makes me feel good,Most of the clients are my old clients from those days before I had left for The UK again.I suppose they are happy with my services. :)
